Bruce Douglas Cockburn è un cantautore e chitarrista di origine canadese. Il suo stile musicale spazia dal folk al rock con influenze jazz, e i suoi testi coprono una vasta gamma di argomenti, tra cui i diritti umani, le questioni ambientali, la politica e la spiritualità. In 50 anni di carriera Cockburn ha scritto più di 350 canzoni raccolte in 34 album, che trattano della gioia, del dolore, della paura e della fede dell'esperienza umana.

Nel corso della sua carriera, l'artista è stato premiato con 13 Juno Awards, è stato inserito nella Canadian Music Hall of Fame e nella Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, ha ricevuto il Governor General's Performing Arts Award ed è stato nominato Ufficiale dell'Ordine del Canada.

È anche profondamente rispettato per il suo attivismo su questioni che vanno dai diritti dei nativi alle mine antiuomo, dall'ambiente al debito del Terzo Mondo, lavorando per organizzazioni come Oxfam, Amnesty International, Medici senza frontiere e Amici della Terra.
