All about WTA 125 Parma Ladies Open
Once again this year, the city of Parma is confirmed as the Italian stage for great women's tennis and is preparing to host the Parma Ladies Open. From 2021 to the present, players from all over the world have had the opportunity to compete in one of the most fascinating clubs in Italy, the Parma Tennis Club, praised by all the athletes for the spectacular scenery and the surface of the clay courts, equaled to that of Roland Garros for impeccable conditions.
The first edition was held in May 2021 and featured the extraordinary participation of the legendary Williams sisters and the now Slam champion Coco Gauff, then 17 years old who won her second WTA title right in Parma.
The second edition, held in September 2022 confirmed the success of the event, attracting many Top 50 players to Parma, first among them the Greek former world No. 3 Maria Sakkari, beaten in the final by Egyptian Mayar Sherif.
The third edition, in September 2023, proclaimed Ana Bogdan, current No. 67, winner, who was able to capture the public's affection with her love for the city.
In 2024, the tournament had its best entry list with as many as 24 players in the TOP 100 and Wild Card Alja Tomljanovic.
The ‘Parma Ladies Open presented by Iren’ tournament returns in 2025 with its fifth edition. Placing itself in the second week of Italy's most important tournament, the WTA 1000 in Rome the Parma leg will serve as a bridge, for the participating athletes, between the clay of Rome to that of Paris, allowing the tennis players to prepare for Roland Garros. In fact, it will take place from May 12 to 17, the 5th edition with prize money of $115,000.
