About
Born in New York's vibrant indie scene, VAMPIRE WEEKEND have redefined the alternative rock scene with an innovative and sophisticated sound. Formed in 2006 at Columbia University, the band led by Ezra Koenig (vocals and guitar), with Chris Baio (bass) and Chris Tomson (drums), has been able to blend indie rock, afrobeat sounds and baroque pop into a unique and recognisable formula.
Their eponymous debut album (2008) immediately caught the attention with iconic tracks such as ‘A-Punk’ and ‘Oxford Comma’, winning over critics and audiences alike. Success was consolidated with ‘Contra’ (2010), which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and ‘Modern Vampires of the City’ (2013), which won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album.
After a six-year hiatus, the return with ‘Father of the Bride’ (2019) showed a new artistic maturity, exploring folk and soft rock influences and earning critical acclaim. In 2024, the band returned with ‘Only God Was Above Us’, an album that reaffirmed their ability to reinvent themselves without losing their identity.
