About

All about The Lumineers

Wesley Schultz, voice and guitar, and Jeremiah Fraites, drums, percussions and piano, The Lumineers’s founding members, started playing and writing music together in the early 2000s in New York under several aliases like Free Beer, 6Cheek and Wesley Jeremiah.

After moving to Denver in 2009, Schulz and Fraites welcomed the cellist Neyla Pekarek in the band. The Lumineers came into the limelight in 2011 when their debut single, Ho Hey, was featured on the CW series Hart Of Dixie. In 2012, The Lumineers released their homonymous debut album, becoming one of the leading indie groups in the world. The Lumineers debuted at #2 on Billboard Top 200 and received two Grammy Awards nominations in 2013. In the same year The Lumineers took part in The Hunger Games movie soundtrack.

In 2016, The Lumineers’ second studio album Cleopatra came out. The official singles Ophelia, Cleopatra, Angela and Sleep On The Floor are once again proof of Schultz and Fraites’ incredible writing skills. In 2017, The Lumineers were handpicked by U2 to open the American leg of their Joshua Tree Anniversary Tour.

III, The Lumineers’ third studio album, was released on 13 September 2019. Gloria, Life In The City and Donna are the official singles off III. The album is divided in three chapters, each centered on a different character. The album originated from some diary entries Schultz wrote more than a decade ago: in these notes, Schultz talks about the attempt to save an alcoholic relative, about his family and his childhood.

The band’s fourth album, BRIGHTSIDE, was released on 14 January 2022 and represents the return of The Lumineers after more than two years, as well as the band’s most joyful and spontaneous work so far. The title track, BRIGHTSIDE, reached the first place of the Billboard AAA Radio Chart: it is the sixth time the band has reached the top of this chart.

Don’t miss the indie folk group that has built an international following thanks to their hit Ho Hey!
