Informazioni

Louis Borlase, Oliver Judge, Arthur Leadbetter, Laurie Nankivell e Anton Pearson si sono conosciuti all’università a Brighton nel 2015. Accomunati dalla passione per la musica ambient e jazz, gli Squid hanno esordito in un jazz café locale.

Nell’EP di debutto, “Lino”, sono presenti le sonorità propulsive della Germania degli anni Settanta. Il singolo “Terrestrial Changeover Blues (2007-2012)” ha confermato l’ecletticismo della band post-punk originaria di Brighton. Il brano successivo “The Dial” li ha introdotti al produttore Dan Carey, al lavoro anche nell’ultimo EP “Town Centre”. Con “Houseplants”, gli Squid sono balzati in vetta alle classifiche britanniche e sono finiti nella A-list di BBC Radio 6Music.

Nel 2021 gli Squid hanno pubblicato Bright Green Field, ispirato al mondo tumultuoso in cui viviamo e rappresenta un capitolo più oscuro in cui la profondità emotiva della musica viene ulteriormente approfondita.

Nel 2023 la band tornerà con il nuovo lavoro O Monolith anticipato dal singolo Swing (In A Dream).
