Gli Skunk Anansie si sono formati nel 1994 a Londra. Il loro nome deriva dall’unione dei termini Skunk, che indica l’animale moffetta, ed Anansi ovvero una delle principali divinità appartenenti alla mitologia delle popolazioni africane. La band è attualmente formata da Skin (voce e chitarra), Ace (chitarra e cori), Cass Lewis (basso e voce) e Mark Richardson (batteria).

A partire dall’esordio nel 1994 al London’s Splash Club con il singolo Little Baby Swastikkka gli Skunk Anansie hanno pubblicato sei album di inediti, due album dal vivo ed una raccolta. Tra gli album più importanti della band inglese possiamo ricordare l’album di debutto Paranoid & Sunburnt del 1995 grazie al quale vincono il Best New British Band della rivista Kerrang, Post Orgasmic Chill del 1999 contenente la hit Secretly inclusa nella colonna sonora del film Cruel Intentions – Prima regola non innamorarsi ed il primo album dopo la reunion del 2010 Wonderlustre, certificato oro in Italia grazie a My Ugly Boy e You Saved Me.

Gli Skunk Anansie sono celebri per essere una grande live band. Si sono infatti esibiti sui più importanti palchi al mondo ed hanno accompagnato in tour artisti di fama mondiale come Bad Religion, Lenny Kravitz e Rammstein.
