All about Rauw Alejandro

Rauw Alejandro is the king of modern reggaeton.

The multi-platinum Puerto Rican rapper and ‘Todo De Ti’ singer is revered for his signature genre-blending sound and intricately choreographed live shows, paying homage to traditional reggaeton and Latin influences.

Having scooped up various accolades and amassed an adoring international fanbase, Rauw Alejandro has also proved himself to be a sought-after collaborator and producer, working with fellow Puerto Rican exports Bad Bunny and Farruko, as well as the likes of Pharrell and Jennifer Lopez.

A significant part of Alejandro’s mainstream appeal comes from his knack for mixing classic genres and producing a sound that feels entirely fresh, perhaps inspired by the diverse roster of Elvis, Michael Jackson and Chris Brown who formed his early musical palette. Seamlessly blending thudding old-school reggaeton with R&B, trap, funk, and electronic influences, his debut album, Afrodisíaco (2020), exemplified his experimental approach to layering traditional Latin music with synths and samples. Sophomore effort VICE VERSA (2021) followed, featuring the retro-funk hit ‘Todo de Ti’, which quickly became a global sensation, clocking up more than 2 billion streams to date. Meanwhile, the euphoric Saturno (2022) nods to 80s and 90s dance music, whilst monopolising on the post-pandemic clubbing resurgence.

Since appearing on the scene in 2017, Rauw Alejandro has enjoyed countless milestones alongside his prolific output, affirming his universal appeal as a passionate lyricist exploring themes of love and heartbreak. From several gold, platinum and multi-platinum certifications, to a Latin Grammy award for his 2020 track ‘Tattoo - Remix with Camilo’. In 2021, Alejandro released his most successful album to date, VICE VERSA. Met with rave reviews, it debuted at No.1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Album chart, and topped the ‘Best Albums of 2021’ lists in The New York Times, Rolling Stone and NPR. Rauw Alejandro’s live shows are also something of a spectacle, with the singer executing increasingly complex choreography (his quick-footedness a result of his former aspirations to be a footballer) with every world tour.

Rauw Alejandro released his latest album, Cosa Nuestra, in November 2024. Showcasing his ever evolving sound, the 18-track effort places more of an emphasis on classic salsa influences, featuring a liberal amount of congas, trumpet, bass and guiro. The lead single from the album, ‘Qué Pasaría…’ features longtime collaborator Bad Bunny and has topped charts in multiple countries thanks to its infectious rhythm and evocative reggaeton beat.
