Invited by Associazione Svezia Italia (Sweden Italy Association), the pianist, opera teacher and singer Raffaello Bellavista and the stylist and singer Serena Gentilini guided us on Thursday 15 April via streaming through Viaggio musicale attraverso i luoghi di Dante, Dante's musical journey.
For the online concert dedicated to the Divine Comedy and the Supreme Poet Dante Alighieri, the most important initiative of Associazione Svezia Italia on sale exclusively on Ticketmaster.it, the pianist and composer Raffaello Bellavista selected piano and operatic compositions directly or symbolically linked to Dante’s otherworldly experience.
Viaggio musicale attraverso i luoghi di Dante, available via streaming all over the world, started with Dante Sonata, the translation of Franz Liszt’s journey into Romantic music, followed by works indirectly referencing the ascent from Hell to Heaven: two opera arias from Mozart's Don Giovanni and Beethoven's famous Moonlight Sonata.
For the final crossover representation of Heaven and love, the singer Serena Gentilini, who wore a dress of her own creation, performed well-known songs, including Bill Withers’ Ain't No Sunshine, Eden by Raffaello Bellavista and Guns N' Roses’ Knockin' on Heaven's Door and Heaven by Avicii, the late Swedish DJ who came to Tuscany to study Dante's work.
At the end of the online concert, Bellavista debuted his composition Notturno a Venezia op.1, based on Dante's last journey to Venice as ambassador of the city of Ravenna.
