Peter Joseph Andrew Hammill, born on November 5, 1948, is an esteemed English musician and recording artist. As a founder of the legendary progressive rock band Van der Graaf Generator, Hammill is primarily known as a singer-songwriter, but his expertise also extends to playing guitar and piano. He is the author and producer of his own recordings and has occasionally produced for other artists. His career and contributions to progressive music were recognized in 2012 when he received the Visionary Award at the inaugural Progressive Music Awards.
