About
Paul Kalkbrenner, the international electronic music ace, released seven studio albums and has 2.4 million fans on Facebook. The Berlin DJ was the first European electronic music artist to perform on the Tomorrowland stage in 2016.
For Kalkbrenner’s generation, electronic music was not only a form of expression, but also the soundtrack to the reunification of Germany after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.
After playing as a DJ with his friend Sascha Funke in clubs that later became legendary such as Tresor, Planet, Walfisch and E-werk, Paul Kalkbrenner began his career as a soloist and record producer.
In 2000, the DJ released Superimpose, which was followed by Zeit in 2001 and Self in 2004. In the same year, Kalkbrenner shot the film Berlin Calling directed by Hannes Stöhr. In addition to playing the main character Ickarus, Kalkbrenner composed the movie soundtrack including the famous song Sky and Sand (over 200,000 copies sold).
In 2014, Paul Kalkbrenner played with Peter Gabriel and Udo Lindenberg in front of 400,000 people at the Brandenburg Gate to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Kalkbrenner’s latest album, Parts of Life, continues the Back To The Future trilogy, which talks about the arrival of techno music in Berlin in the late 80s. Parts of Life is a timeless and energetic album and is also Paul Kalkbrenner's most personal work to date.
