About
James Ure, aka Midge Ure, is a British singer-songwriter known for being the guitarist for Visage and Ultravox.
Midge Ure began his musical career in Slik, later becoming a member of Thin Lizzy, Visage and Ultravox, achieving great success in the UK with songs such as Vienna, Dancing With Tears In My Eyes and Hymn and albums such as Rage in Eden, Quartet and Lament.
Midge Ure debuted as a solo artist in 1985 with the album The Gift, which reached number two in the UK and from which the hit singles If I Was and That Certain Smile were extracted. Following other globally acclaimed singles such as Yellow Pearl, theme song for the TV show Top of the Pops, Midge Ure continued to release solo albums such as Answers to Nothing, Pure, Breathe, Went to Coney Island, Move Me, Little Orphans.
In 2006, Midge Ure released the album Duet - Midge Ure and Troy Donockley, while 2008 marked the release of album 10 and the reunion of the British band Ultravox with a UK tour. Midge Ure's latest album is Fragile, released in 2014.
