All about Luciano Ligabue
Ligabue, stage name of Luciano Ligabue, is one of the most loved songwriters in Italy. The artist of Correggio, Reggio Emilia, took his first step into the music world with the band Orazero in the ‘80’s.
In 1990 the artist began his solo career with the homonymous album Ligabue, preceded by the song Balliamo Sul Mondo. Ligabue’s album become one of the most successful debuts in the history of the Italian discography. The song was very popular and won the Disco Verde at Festivalbar. Ligabue also included the hits Piccola Stella Senza Cielo, Non è Tempo per Noi e Sogni di R&R.
After three years spent on tour in 1995 Luciano Ligabue released Buon Compleanno Elvis, the album which marked his consacration. The album with more than 1 million copies sold ranked in the chart of the most selling album in Italy for 15 months with all his tracks in the radio airplay. Buon Compleanno Elvis includes songs part of the Italian popular culture such as Certe Notti (winner of the Targa Tenco for best song of the year), Hai Un Momento Dio? e Quella Che Non Sei.
Buon Compleanno Elvis was followed by twenty more albums for one of the most important and acclaimed artists of the Italian music scene. Among the most important songs of Ligabue we can find Urlando Contro il Cielo included in Lambrusco, Coltelli, Rose & Pop Corn of 1991, Ho Messo Via taken off Sopravvissuti e Sopravviventi of 1993, L’odore del Sesso and Una Vita da Mediano from Miss Mondo of 1999 and Happy Hour from Nome e Cognome of 2005.
Luciano Ligabue is not just a musician: the artist has also directed the movies Radiofreccia, Da Zero a Dieci and Made in Italy besides writing novels and books.
Ligabue latest work is 77 singoli + 7, which includes his most representative seventy-seven song plus seven unreleased tracks.
