Lizzo, stage name of Melissa Viviane Jefferson, is an America singer-songwriter.
Lizzo’s solo career began in 2013, when she released her first album, Lizzobangers, followed by her second album, Big GRRRL Small World (2015) and by the EP Coconut Oil (2016). She achieved international fame in 2019 with her third album, Cuz I Love You, anticipated by the song Juice (2x platinum). In the same year Good as Hell (3x platinum), from 2016, and Truth Hurts (7x platinum), from 2017, became hits, ranking third and first in the American Billboard Hot 100 and coming back in the charts in several countries.
Lizzo won some of the most prestigious awards in the music industry: she was the most nominated artists at 2020 Grammy Awards with eight nominations and won three awards at the ceremony. She received eleven nominations at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards, winning one for Top Song Sales Artist. At the 2020 BET Awards, she became the first act to be nominated in both the R&B/pop and hip-hop artist categories in the same year.
Lizzo has been on the cover of Rolling Stone, Billboard’s Grammy Preview issue, British Vogue, ELLE’s Women in Music Issue and many others.
In 2021, Lizzo released the single Rumors featuring Cardi B, which debuted in the top five of the Billboard Hot 100.
Lizzo collaborated with artists such as Ariana Grande, Missy Elliott, Gucci Mane, Charli XCX, DaBaby and Cardi B.
On 14 April 2022 Lizzo released the song About Damn Time, an international hit with more than 374 million streams on Spotify. The song anticipated her latest album, Special, released on 15 July.
