All about Bay Fest 2025
Bay Fest 2025 is definitely taking shape!
After unveiling the line-up of the June preview and the first two scheduled names, Refused (only and last Italian date and farewell tour) and Turbonegro, today the festival's bill definitely takes shape with the other bands that will perform in the 10-year anniversary edition of the festival that will take place on the weekend of August 8,9 and 10, 2025 as usual in the beautiful setting of the seaside resort of Bellaria Igea Marina.
Also announced on the stage are Madball, Codefendants, Grade 2, Doc Rotten, The Last Gang, Bull Brigade and GOB, which add to the Bay Fest 2025 bill.
Since 2015, the festival has established itself as the leading genre benchmark in Italy, has been able to attract thousands of fans from all over Europe and around the world.
Bay Fest, born from the collaboration between Hub Music Factory and LP Rock Events, has moved the interest of the specialized and mainstream press by establishing itself as one of the most important music festivals in Europe in an exceptional location.
Precisely thanks to the combination of the alternative music proposal and the exclusive location, Bay Fest has been able to enrich the Bellaria Igea Marina area with alternative culture, good music, tourism and a lot of fun.
LINE-UP
Refused is one of the most influential bands in the history of European alternative music.
Originating as a hardcore band and evolving to encompass traits ranging from ambient to electronic, Refused unhinged the doors that limited the evolution of punk, sparking unprecedented artistic experimentation.
Their iconic album 'The Shape Of Punk To Come' is one of the most important albums in alternative music history and recently saw the light of a tribute reissue titled 'The Shape Of Punk To Come Obliterated' in which 12 bands breathe new life into the tracks with covers and remixes. Notable artists involved include Quicksand, Touché Amoré, IDLES, Igorrr, Gel and Brutus. After disbanding and reuniting in 2012, these summer dates-including one at Bay Fest-will be the last in the band's history.
Turbonegro are one of the most important alternative bands of the last 20 years, considered by many to be the standard-bearers of death punk in Europe. Formed in the late 1980s as a hardcore band, over the years they shifted to a genre that caresses hard rock by mixing it with the immediacy and power that characterize punk rock.
An increasingly tight, fast and loud rock 'n' roll led them-especially at the turn of the 2000s-to be considered among Scandinavia's leading rock bands.
Their intensity and sharp sense of humor in lyrics and on stage helped create the Turbonegro legend.
GOB are also among the names on the bill; over the course of their career, which dates back to 1993 and includes a catalog of seven LPs, the members of Gob (singer/guitarist Tom Thacker, former member of the legendary Sum 41, singer/guitarist Theo Goutzinakis, drummer Gabe Mantle and bassist Steven Fairweather) have established themselves as pioneers of Canadian pop punk. They have accumulated JUNO Awards nominations and dozens of tours around the world.
Then there will be MADBALL, to be regarded as mainstays of so-called “New York hardcore,” recognized for their explosive energy and hard-hitting lyrics addressing social issues, resistance and “unity.” The album “Set It Off,” released in 1994, is a milestone in this movement with songs such as “New York City,” “Down by Law,” and “Set It Off,” the album helped solidify the group's reputation as one of the most authentic and aggressive in global hardcore. NYHC at it's best!
Space is also given to a bit of California with The Last Gang, a punk rock band from the Fat Wreck Chords circuit, at Bay Fest will present songs taken from their latest record “Obscene Daydreams.”
Also a welcome return to the Riviera and the festival for them after their 2022 performance.
It will also be interesting to see Fat Mike's (NOFX) latest “creature” on stage: Codefendants, is a breath of fresh air and a crossover of styles influenced by the Bay Area atmosphere, a blend between genres, a cross between hip hop, new-wave, flamenco and Beatles that led them to record their first album “This is Crime Wave” in 2023 and that they will present at Bay Fest.
Space is also given to Grade 2, from England and healthy carriers of the punk rock mentality, their sound is an homage to early punk and the Oi!! scene. Their last two records have been a hit: 2019's “Graveyard Island,” recorded and produced by Tim Armstrong of Rancid and mixed by Kevin Bivona of The Interrupters, took them on several international tours, the last and self-titled in 2023 took them to play with Guns N' Roses in Hyde Park.
Doc Rotten formed in Trenton, New Jersey in 2017, since then three EPs, a self-titled record, recorded by Pete Steinkopf (The Bouncing Souls), released last year, and dozens of gigs between Japan, Europe and North America. Doc Rotten may be the surprising new addition to Bay Fest 2025.
Bull Brigade was born in 2006 in Turin and reached the interest of fans already with the first two records “Strade smarrite” and “Vita Libertà” followed by the third album “Il fuoco non si è spento.”
In 2023 the song “Submerged” was included in the soundtrack of the animated series “This World Will Not Make Me Bad” by cartoonist Zerocalcare, in which the band was portrayed on stage. In recent years they have become arguably the top reference point for hardcore at home.
