About
Ásgeir, the stage name of Ásgeir Trausti Einarsson, is an Icelandic songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who, thanks to his folk Icelandic music, outperformed the compatriots Björk e Sigur Rós, becoming the best-selling artist in the history of Icelandic music in just ten years.
In 2012, Asgeir released his debut album gaining success in Iceland. In 2014, with the help of John Grant from the rock band Czars, the artist translated and released the record In The Silence, the English version of his debut album. On the same year, Ásgeir also put out the cover of Nirvana’s Hearth- Shaped Box of 1993.
In 2020, Ásgeir released Bury The Moon preceded by the song Youth. An intimate and intense album written in loneliness in his country house. On Bury The Moon, the author tells his thoughts on losing someone and love, making it Ásgeir’s most impressing work to date.
In 2022 Ásgeir will be back with his new anticipated fourth album Time On My Hands preceded by the song Snowblind. Snowblind is an electronic ballad which combines rhythms and expressive intensity with synth and drums. The voice of Ásgeir braids perfectly with the sound telling the story of his home town in Iceland.
Don’t miss the chance to listening live to the new Icelandic talent!
