Arcade Fire - musical career

Arcade Fire is an indie band formed in 2001 in Montreal. The group includes Win Butler (vocals, guitar, bass, mandolin, piano, keyboards), Régine Chassagne (vocals, multi-instrumentalist), Richard Reed Parry (vocals, multi-instrumentalist), Sarah Neufeld (violin), Tim Kingsbury (vocals, bass, guitar) and Jeremy Gara (vocals, drums, guitar).

Arcade Fire are known for their unique sound, rich in harmonies between numerous musical instruments. Thanks to their enviable creativity and live performance skills, the band has won recognition and praise from artists such as David Bowie, Chris Martin, Simple Minds and Bono.

Arcade Fire debuted in 2003 with their eponymous EP, followed by the critically acclaimed album Funeral. The album is characterised by a baroque and melancholic sound, as can be seen from the singles Wake Up, Une Anne Sans Lumiere and In the Backseat. In May 2005, the band released the single Cold Wind, while some songs from the album were used by the BBC in television commercials.

Success was repeated with the album Neon Bible, released in 2007 and with a focus on global issues. In support of the album, the band began a 122-date tour performing in 19 countries. In 2010, they released the album The Suburbs, inspired by suburban neighbourhoods, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and won the Grammy for Best Album of the Year.

Following their fourth studio album entitled Reflektor in 2013, they began a tour with numerous dates across the United States, Canada and Europe. On June 1 2017, the new album Everything Now was announced, anticipated by the singles Creature Comfort, Everything Now, Signs of Life and Electric Blue. The album is marked by sounds closer to dance rock and disco music and deals with the evolution of information and the web in recent years.

Arcade Fire's latest album is We, a more melancholic and minimalist work than in the past, but at the same time with a great emotional impact.
